Developer Kedlin, in association with Pocket Gems Publishing, has released Meter Maid City for iOS. The game asks the user to step into the exciting world of parking enforcement in Meter Maid City. Your objective is to hunt down and ticket illegally parked cars and earn cash to develop the Meter Maid City.

The user starts off as a trainee, and there is a nice tutorial where one learns how to place tickets or tow the cars. And in order to make the tutorial fun, you also get to race the real cops who I found to be very annoying bunch.

As a junior enforcement officer, you are out in the city looking for casual offenders to habitual offenders. In each instance of Meter Maid City, user drives around the city in a scooter, with the scooter on cruise control. And the good thing is that the scooter turn around at corners automatically without any input from the player. However, you can swipe on the screen to change lane to avoid oncoming traffic or avoid the two truck. Similarly the user can speed in the direction of the moving scooter to increase speed or in opposite direction to decrease or even stop the scooter.

Since most of the driving happens automatically, the user can focus on finding the culprits. If a meter is red, player can drag a ticket from the dashboard to the vehicle before it passes by. If a vehicle is parked illegally in a handicap spot or in the fire lane, player can give them a tow ticket. Once you give a tow ticket, the tow truck will come and take the vehicle with it and clear out the space immediately.

As you progress you will run into offenders who don’t pay their tickets. For such culprits, you have access to parking boots which will stop the offenders from moving their cars till they pay the ticket. Even though parking boots are free, but they are limited in quantity. So you have to go back to the impound in order to get more in case you run out of them. And you can do so by clicking on the map icon on the left bottom of the screen and drawing your route to the impound. Once you are there you can equip your scooter with more parking boots. There is also option to carry traffic cones for blocking users from parking in specific spaces along the street and more.

Remember the serial offenders whom I talked about earlier, well you can track them using the DMV Database. Go to DMV Database and flag them. Now the game will highlight these cars in orange in the game, so it is easier to spot them and drag a parking boot on their vehicle.

You are required to complete certain set of missions relating to specific rank in order to get promotion. Occasionally there are also special bonus missions which you can play to earn extra bonus cash.

As you play the game you earn money which you can use on upgradation of your existing scooter or buying a new scooter. In addition, users can spend their money on upgrading the overall town, building additional blocks to patrol, etc.

It is a nice enjoyable game though I wish it had a landscape mode available for iPad. You can download game from here.

Although supply of Apple iPhone 6 and 6+ has improved dramatically, it can still be a pain to find one with the right carrier and spec you need. Adding to the restlessness, if you are one of those people who simply does not want to wait a couple of weeks for their phone, it can get pretty annoying. You’d rather breeze into the store and buy one upfront rather than waiting for it to ship.

The usual way would be to go to the Apple website, select your preferred phone and choose store pickup to find out if the phone is available near your zip code. However this can be a tedious process, having to reconfigure the options each time and depending on the number of times you check during the day.This conundrum however has been resolved by this nifty service called iStocknow, which gives you a really nice overview of Apple stores with availability in the form of a Google Maps overlay. The website is regularly refreshed and makes tracking a lot easier.

Using iStocknow, I was able to snap a 6+ a few weeks ago when stock levels were rock bottom. The trick is to keep a lookout for your favorite device and as soon as the store marker gets green, order one for in store pickup using Apple’s own website. Alternatively you can also use the website’s email feature that you alert you as soon as your device gets back in stock.

You can order phones directly from Apple regardless of the carrier you are using as the order process would have you sign in to your respective carrier account to check for upgradeability (if going that route) and lets you select or continue your existing plan.

There are so many different scenarios and situation when you wish you knew how to convert your favorite video file to MP3. Well today I am going to give a quick over view on how to do that to help you in those situations.

There are two kind of possible scenarios:

1) You have your favorite video hosted on a famous video sharing file like Youtube

There are a couple of websites out there which will help you achieve this objective. But I particularly like vidtomp3.com. It is easy to use.

Just paste the link to your favorite video and watch the website do its magic. Once it has converted the file for you, it will ask you to click to download. And that is pretty much it.

2) You have a video on your computer

There are a couple of open-source softwares out there which can help you complete this task. But for the purpose of this article I will be focusing on Avidemux. Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Avidemux is available for Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows under the GNU GPL license.

For the purpose of illustration I have downloaded the Mac OS X version.

Once you have installed the software, follow these steps.

1) Click File > Open, or use the quick menu and click on the extreme left icon shown in the image above.

2) Select your desired video and wait for the software to load that video. It might take a few seconds. Once it has finished loading, you will see the name of the file in the title bar.

3) The software will provide you a list of Audio Outputs in which it can save the file for you. For the purpose of this tutorial we will select MP3.

4) You click on configure to enhance the quality of the output file.

5) Once you are done with your settings click on Audio in the top bar, and click on Save Audio. It will ask you for the destination folder. Select that and you are all done.

If you’ve played Clash of Clans, or Hay Day you will be familiar with SuperCell. The company behind super hit games. Boom Beach is another super hit game made by the same company. For those who have played Clash of Clans, the Boom Beach will look pretty familiar to them. Boom Beach is a combat strategy game where player fights an epic war against the evil Blackguard. You get to storm the beach, take back the land invaded by the enemy forces and free the enslaved islanders. The fight becomes a race to harness the ancient powers hidden on the islands.

By using gunship and landing boats, you can deploy troops on the desired island and take out the enemy headquarter within the timeframe. Freeing islands rewards both immediate and long term resources. As a thank you for freedom, the islanders send gold to your island via boat. In addition, islands are constantly being taken back, giving you an opportunity to retake and earn additional supplies.

When you start off, you have an island where you have various buildings including your headquarter. You can build defensive buildings like sniper tower, mortar or machine guns. And similarly you have resource collecting buildings from where you get wood and gold. Unlike in Clash of Clans, you can’t purchase units here to enable you to build or upgrade multiple structures at once – you can only issue one construction command at a time. This slows the pace of Boom Beach down. And when you first begin playing, it’s very tempting to spend the premium currency (of diamonds) to speed things up.

I believe Boom Beach gives you considerable control and opportunity to think tactically about how to attack enemy base. With options of healing your forces with an area-of-effect medical kit or flare to give your troops in a specific direction, you feel that you aren’t completely at the mercy of the game’s Artificial Intelligence.

The game though lacks social interaction which I particularly liked about Clash of Clans. I am sure if some kind of social interaction is integrated into the current game, it will make Boom Beach a much more fun game to play.

The more you play Boom Beach, the more you get involved into the game. This game is definitely worth a shot!

I am someone who hates to wait for the torrent to download and then watch it. I would rather take my time and find an online streaming link and watch it there. But lucky for people like me, I can now even stream the torrent files that too without installing any new software. Thanks to people at joker.org.

Google has recently announced that you can make a quick call to over 25 countries using google’s hangouts. (Link to Google Support Page) And by quick call they mean one minute. This offer will be valid till end of 2014 as per the press release. If your call lasts for a period longer than one minute than Google will charge you for that. However, you will need to have some credit in your account before you are able to avail this free opportunity. Google’s Hangout application for desktop and mobile has long allowed its users to make free calls to US and Canada using an internet connection.

According to Android Police, Google is working on an app that allows users to transfer data from a one device to another. Under the project name ‘Nearby’, Google has long been working to connect various devices to each other and their surroundings, but according to people at Android Police there might be more to this project than what meets the eye.

Copresence (an internal name of project) appears to be aimed at allowing nearby Android and iOS devices to communicate with one another, allowing users to transfer data from one to another.

Android Police’s Liam Spradlin describes:

To authenticate with one another, the two devices would apparently be able to use location information or Bluetooth, perhaps along with a functionality similar to “whisper,” the ultrasonic authentication method Google has used for the Chromecast to allow devices to connect from different networks. Actual information would be transferred using Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi direct.

The site has cited developer documentation and a patent for the service as the source of their deduction. It sounds as if there will be a lot more to hear about Copresence over the new few weeks, so stay tuned! [Android Police; The Verge]

Cloth uses your current location to detect local weather conditions and based on this make recommends on what to wear, based on your previous outfits.

Monster Flash is a nice spooky game right in time for Halloween by Robomodo LLC. With all those monsters out there in dark and spooky nights, your only defense against them is your flash light.

It is an easy and addictive game. There is a nice tutorial on how to play game in the beginning. Well there aren’t many controls making it real easy to remember. Press on the bottom right of the screen to turn clockwise, and on the bottom left of the screen to turn anti-clockwise.

You are required to aim your flash light at the monsters. The time it takes to kill a monster varies from monster to monster. Some will vanish in a split second others will take their time. During the game you will also find several power ups. You can collect those with the help of your flash light.

Lumo Deliveries is a time management simulation game developed by Lumo Developments. In this game you get to act as international logistics manager with the task to manage deliveries. The entire game revolves around the basic cycle of picking up shipments, making deliveries, earning coins to unlock better drivers and carriers. There is tons to unlock on your way to global delivery domination.

The game starts off with you selecting the region you want to dominate first. Once you have selected the region you hire a driver and purchase a cargo carrier. You do cargo shipment jobs to earn lumobux, currency of the game. You can either view the estimated time of arrival (ETA) count down to zero or you can view the car drive till it reaches its destination. The only benefit of watching it drive is that you get to earn some extra coins by clicking on them as they fly by.

Lumo Deliveries is all about running the delivery business by managing multiple cargo carriers at once. Each delivery job takes a certain amount of time, and you can track all your carriers using a single screen.

When a carrier reaches its destination, you tap on each package to drop it off, and then  back to delivering more boxes. And the cycle goes on. During the process your carriers might break down depending on their reliability. So you will have to repair them, which requires a lot of tapping.

As your business grows and you earn more and more lumobux, you can hire more drivers and purchase more carriers to enhance your delivery fleet. The unlocks keep on getting exponentially expensive as you progress. You get to unlock carriers like UFOs, Helicopters, Bus, Van De Graaff, etc.

Just like you need to keep your carriers repaired, similarly there is a loyalty factor of each driver. You need to keep them motivated else they will start driving slow. You can keep them motivated by using either ‘Spin Hypnowheel’ or ‘Play Bongos’. You can also do multiple upgrades to your driver as you progress along.

The game is designed to check in back on your deliveries throughout the day. Lumo Deliveries is a simple touch interaction game but it feels quite redundant. It feels less like a game and more like doing a task list. Even though there is a lot to unlock but it lacks the engagement factor. The graphics are good but unfortunately gameplay is a complete let down. You need to just tap, tap and tap some more to get anything done.

Setting up port forwarding is quite similar to how its done in any other router. Port forwarding allows your router to correctly redirect external inbound service requests to the correct internal computer on your network. Setting up a router to port forward can be accomplished in a few steps.

Port forwarding is a very easy task and can be done using the following steps:

1. Open the administration panel of your modem. Usually the IP of your modem is http://192.168.1.1  or you can try http://192.168.0.1 if the other doesn’t work for you.
2. Enter username and password once prompted. The default login details are username: admin and password: admin.
3. Once logged in you will see the following page
   
4. Use the navigation on the left and click Advanced Setup.
5. Next click NAT, and by default Virtual Servers should be selected. If it is not click on Virtual Servers.
6. Click Add button to proceed with port forwarding.
7. Once you click Add, a new page asking for details will open. For your reference I have attached a screenshot of the page.
   
8. You can select a service from the drop down or select Custom Service. In case you want Custom Service, just click on the radio button next to Custom Service. Enter any name you want to give to this service in the input field next to the Custom Service.
   
9. Now write the IP address of the device on which the service is running. For example if you are running wamp on your desktop, enter the IP address of your desktop. This will be internal ip which should look something like 192.168.1.120.
10. In the External Port Start and External Port End enter the desired port.
11. Next select appropriate protocol. The available protocols are TCP or UDP or TCP/UDP.
    
12. Once you are done entering details press Apply/Save.

Trioo is a new game developed by Zhipeng Wang. It is quite a simple game but can get challenging. This game is a test of your reflexes. There are two modes in this game: 1) Challenges 2) Endless. In challenge mode it has over 80 different challenges.

In order to stay in the game you are required to keep the balls bouncing. It all takes a tap at the right time at the right place in order to stay in the game. The screen is divided into three parts. You can move the block to any of these places by tapping on them. The balls can come from any direction, left or right. You need to place the block at the right place to bounce them off and continue to prevent them from falling.

It seems like an easy game initially but as you play along it becomes kind of challenging. It is a nice game but not a game I would play repeatedly.

Mozilla, the company behind Firefox, today has announced today they are planning on launching a new browser dedicated to developers. The browser is expected to launch on November 10. November 10 is also the date on which Mozilla is set to celebrate Firefox’s 10th anniversary.

Most of us aren’t comfortable with change. So when it comes to search engines, we want to continue using our favorite search engine instead of being forced to use the one chosen by the manufacturer of the phone. In this tutorial I will tell you how to change the default search engine to the one preferred by you for both iOS and Android devices.

iOS

If you want to change the default search engine in Safari, you can do so by going to Settings. Tap on Safari. Now tap on Search Engine. As shown in the image below, you have four choices in iOS 8. You can select Google, Yahoo, Bing or DuckDuckGo. You aren’t allowed to add any other search engine of your choice. You are required to select one of these.

If you want to change the default search engine in Chrome, you can do so by opening Chrome. Tap on Menu Button. Go to Settings from here as shown in the image below. Tap on Search Engine. Suit up, because today we are diving into dog fights! Its been a while since we got a decent updates to this genre. The game apty named metal skies, puts you right in the cockpit of a WWII plane as Tiger Squadron’s leader , fueled to the brim, loaded with ammunition and ready to take down the intruding Shadow Jaegers. Metal Skies is one of the most highly detailed and well layout games I have come across recently. It wastes no time and gets you right onto business with a couple of tutorials. They might appear annoying to many but players most certainly appreciate all the elaborate description later when faced with the multitude of options to choose from.

In game dynamics surely reminds me of Ace Combat, one of my favorite games of all. Understandably its not as detailed or diverse as the PC or console title but it makes good use of the mobile GPU and small screen. You need to use the accelerometer to target the enemy plane and then mash the turret button or wait for a lock on to fire missiles. Longer lock on time signified by orange and red color rings deal more damage than a basic blue ring lock on while there is a handy evasion button that lets you dodge income missile targets. Weapons are customizable and there are a plenty of options to chose from once you progress throughout the later stages of the game.

Metal Skies offers two game modes. The players can either play the campaign mode which has a decent amount of missions and story line to it or test their skills in the arena which back to back realtime multiplayer fights. Both modes earn you rewards, weapon unlocks and plane skins, increasing your overall rank and battle abilities.

The elaborate upgrades and multiplayer mode options, earns this game a high re-playability score, however Metal Skies gets an easy 96 because unlike all other games you can actually buy/upgrade a lot of items using the in game earned currency. It won’t keep bothering you to purchase every single item using your credit card. Although, those looking for a shortcut or eager to smoke their opponents can go that route but it most certainly isn’t blatantly pushed into your face. In fact such purchases are neatly tucked under medal packs which can then be converted into gold or used to get upgrades.

So players do have the ability to use pure skill and earn upgrades. Random item drops through out the game only enhance the experience and if that wasn’t enough you even get daily bonus rewards of being loyal.

Although the game is very solid right now, developers could add a couple of more features like damage dynamics, environment effects and tone down the lengthy tutorials a bit. Furthermore, each battle costs you a tank of fuel, which replenishes after some time. This is nothing new as we have seen other games make money off of impatience by offering fuel or energy bars using money. However, recharge or refuel times on Metal Skies are not as horrible and cause just a minor inconvenience. That said, we are definitely looking forward to updates and improvements to this title.

Developers at Kabam have certainly done a wonderful job at putting this title together. The made sure to check all boxes making Metal Skies an exhilarating game. Good graphics, exciting storyline, engaging sound effects, clear layout and the desire to keep playing is the dream of every gamer and Metal Skies has all of it. We would definitely recommend giving metal skies a shot!

Time to catch some zombies! Yes you heard it right. Zombie Catchers by two men and a dog is an amazing fun filled adventure game in a world riddled by a zombie invasion. During the first few minutes of the game you fall in love with it. The gameplay, the features, the sound, and the graphics all are just amazing. This is one fun packed game.

As a zombie catcher you start off with a basic weapon. You are required to go to the zombie infested area, and catch them. Catching zombies is easy. You lure them out with brain. Make sure you hide and are not too visible to zombies as that will spook them. The exclamation mark on top of the zombie shows how well they are aware of your presence. Once spooked, the zombies will run to either end of the screen. And you have to catch them with your weapon before they do. Because if they reach either end then you won’t be able to catch them. There are some zombies who are covered with barrel. These zombies require more power shots in order to lower their armor before they can be caught. You can hold down on the fire button to fire with a great strength rendering a greater damage. As you progress along more variables get involved. The zombies become armed and there are birds and insects running into which can make you unconscious for a few seconds.

Once you catch the zombies what do you do with them? Sell their juice! Yes thats right. A.J. and Bud, two intergalactic businessmen, have decided to set up shop on our homeworld! Together, they plan to catch all the zombies and make Earth safe once more – while also making a handsome profit. Basically you own a drive-thru where you sell drinks. And these drinks are made by squashing the zombies. Different kind of zombies formulate different kind of drinks. Each kind of drink has different level of profitability.

As you progress you can upgrade these machines increasing your production rate and profitability. As you progress you can unlock more machines.

There is a shop from where you can purchase different weapons and accessories.

As you progress, you see list of small tasks which you need to complete in order to progress to next level. Reaching each level unlocks new features.

Once you have completed a round of catching zombies, you need to wait around 8 minutes before you can go again to the field for some more zombies. If you want, you can speed up this process by spending a few plutoniums. Or alternative you can buy drones to find zombies quicker. Though the first done costs only 250 coins but anything after that is real expensive.

There are two kinds of currencies in this game: plutonium and coins. Plutonium is used to speed up things. For e.g. speed up the zombie hunt or speed up zombie squashing. Coins are used to purchase upgrades.

Coins can be earned by catching a zombie or by selling the drinks. Where as plutonium is earned at end of every round of zombie catching or by reaching next level.

Like I said earlier this is an amazing game and you should definitely try it out. Zombie Catchers is completely free to play, but the game also allows you to purchase some items for real money.

The Facebook-owned app, WhatsApp, has introduced a new small but useful feature, read receipts. Previously WhatsApp would show double check marks if a sent message had been received. The first check mark was for sent and the other one for received. Now the app goes one step further and turns those check marks blue if the message has been read.

You don’t need to download an updated version of WhatsApp in order to take benefit of this new feature. It has been pushed over the web and is available to all users. So it means that it is applicable to all devices running WhatsApp.

Google has rolled out an update of Google Maps for Android & iOS. They have redesigned the layout to make it even more friendly to the eyes. Apart from layout update, Google has integrated OpenTable & Uber.

Now you can reserve a table right from Google Maps app for restaurants found on OpenTable (U.S. only).

In addition to giving driving, walking and public transit directions, thanks to this new update Google Maps now has support for Uber pickup times and fares. However, in order to use this feature you will need to have Uber app installed on your device and the company’s transportation service needs to be available in your location.

Lastly, if you’re feeling adventurous, Google’s Explore option is anchored at the bottom of your map for fast access to nearby local hot spots.
